Welcome to the August edition of “I Lack Nothing”. (5-6 minute read. 15 minute video.)
Meaning Behind The Tat- A Series.
I get asked a lot if my tattoos hold any significant meaning. The answer? Yes.
Every now and then, I’d like to pick one and tell y’all what it means and the story behind it. (Warning: some can get pretty intense)
First up, my first tattoo:
Proverbs 16:3 - “Roll your works upon the Lord, commit your heart fully to Him, and you will succeed.”
I know this isn’t the best pic, but you get the point.
So funny story, I thought this was going to be my one and only tattoo. I got it in 2013. My dad was in Africa with my brother and mom doing stuff with a team for his non-profit. I was in the states and one day I get a call telling me my dad was flying home early because he was sick. I picked him up, took him to the doctor, and they told me he had jaundice due to blockage in the bile duct that they would go in and fix and all would be well. As I was in the waiting room, the doctor asked me to come back after the surgery. I walked in and my dad was still asleep from the surgery and the doctor began to tell me that while they were operating, they found a mass on my dad’s pancreas and that he had pancreatic cancer. This news would begin one of the hardest seasons of our lives as a family.
After my dad woke up and my mom finally got back from Africa, I needed to do something to get my mind off of all the crazy going on. So what did I do in my early 20 adolescence? I got a tattoo. haha This verse serves as a reminder that no matter what happens in life, if I give it to the Lord, it will work out according to his plan and that plan will always be a success. I truly thought it would be my only little bitty tattoo, but if you know me…you know the journey definitely continued.
LOVE IS BLIND- CHRISTIAN EDITION
LOL.
So my fiance Jennah and I are planning on starting a YouTube page after we get married and one of her first ideas was taking the idea from the Netflix hit show “Love is Blind”, but doing it for Christians and the end result is not engagement but an agreement to go on three dates together (planned by us) before ever seeing each other face to face. BUT, we don’t know if this is the best or worst idea in the world and we need your input! Comment below your thoughts! What we’re thinking is sending out a written and video application. Pick 10 guys and 10 girls to make it onto the show, and go from there. Thoughts? Would you do it? We think it could be fun. haha
and finally…
WHAT MAKES AN AMAZING FRIEND?
Featuring the one…the only…Grant Troutt
I sat down with my boy, Grant Troutt (newest resident of Branson, MO) and discussed what we’ve learned from our personal experience regarding what it takes to be an amazing friend. We believe friendship can have a huge impact on someone’s personal growth and future, so it’s something we should all learn how to do well and take seriously. We hope this resource is both encouraging and helpful to you!
Send to your friends and be great!
Can’t wait to drop September’s newsletter, “The Power of Self-Awareness”.
