What’s Up! I'm JD Rodgers, and this is my new monthly newsletter, “i lack nothing”. I live in Dallas, Texas. I’m 28, married to my wife Jennah, and help lead thousands of young adults every Tuesday night at The Porch located at Watermark Community Church.
So, here’s why we’re here…starting a newsletter of all things…
For starters…
I don’t like doing what everyone else is doing (personal problem I know)…so I couldn’t get myself to start a podcast, YouTube channel, or Facebook group. (Yet) And this Substack thing seemed like a field not many Christian leaders have stumbled upon, so I thought, “why not?”.
But, the real reason why we’re here…
I think most of us are trying to thrive and not just survive in our young adult years.
yet…I think majority of people get older and older and still feel like they’re missing the point of life.
I am convinced you can never truly thrive unless you follow Jesus. I’m not talking about making him just a “part” of your life, but the POINT of your life.
Sure, you might have good times here and there…but reality is, most people spend their young adult years looking for fun and life in all the wrong places because they see the Bible and Christianity as irrelevant and boring. And for most…it is.
But, as you’ll discover through this newsletter, that’s not true for me and my friends…and it doesn’t have to be true for you either.
Psalm 23:1 says, “The Lord is my Shepherd, i lack nothing…” and my hope and goal here is to help people in their 20’s and 30’s see everything they have in Christ, so they don’t have to search anywhere else.
But in a really relatable/cool/inventive/community-driven type of way…you’ll see. ;)
New to substack? Basically, this platform will allow me to share things like raw thoughts from someone your age, fun video resources with my fiance and special guests you all know and love, future zoom bible studies and Q&A’s with key leaders, and so much more (maybe even a “single friend feature” once a month who knows *side eyes emoji*) The cool part is…based off response, you all get to decide how far we take this thing. So…let’s build.
